There has been more than the usual wave of sickness and accidents in this vicinity, the past week. Among the victims are A. S. Furry, who bus been quite sick, and Walter Stancliff, who underwent an operation at the Jarvis hospital In Ashland last Friday. Mr. Stancliff is getting along fine and will be removed to his home in North Talent this week. Mr. Furry is much better under the care of Dr. Mulm gren. ilrs. W. 11. Thompson and Mrs. Tay lor of Central Point district, were vis iting Mrs. J. M. Kader one day last week at her pleasant home on the Pa cific highway south of Phoenix. Mrs. T. T. Simpson of Medford was visiting her daughter, Mrs. Noah Chandler of North Talent Sunday. This community has been clouded with grief since the accident to the Gore sisters, as they were all prom inent in church and Sunday sr'iool cir cles in Phoenix, and loved and resect ed by all who- know them. Everyone is hoping for their speedy recovery. Talent has fallen a victim to the smallpox epidemic and the school is closed In consequence of the muny cases in the little town, but it is in a very mild form, what Is known as Manila smallpox. Reports from Fern Valley say there are very favorable Indications of oil. the best that has yet been found, and they are in daily anticipation of tile drill striking a heavy flow. Miss Jeannette Gore is at the home of her aunt, Mrs. J. M. Ruder, this week. .leannette is not able to attend school on uccount of a lame ankle and several other bruises. Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Evans of Rogue River, were visiting Mrs. Evans' par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. High of Tal ent, one day last week. Mr. Evans will leave for Doris, Calif., on a busi ness trip this week. Mr. H. H. Frame returned recently from Cacramento, Cal and has taken Mrs. Frame home from Dr. Webster's where she has been slaying during Mr. Frame's absence. Mrs. Frame Is somewhat improved in health. Reports Sunday were to the effect that Miss Liberia Gore was suffering from her system absorbing the poison from the infection in her limb, and it is doubtful if she can escape another operation unless there is an immedi ate change. Joshua Patterson is in very jioor health the past few (months and Dr. Malmgrcn make two trips daily to re lieve his sufferings. Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Sheets spent Friday evening with Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Rader and their daughter Miss Jcanett who Is staying at the Rader home and attending school at Phoenix. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Fny of south Medford were pleasant cullers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Rader last Friday. Iron does not waste away in rusting but retains all Its original constituents and adds others. In most eastern European cities the waiter's tip, which is ten per cent, is added directly to the bill.
