It was voted that an educational campaign be inaugurated in the pub lic schools of the county to spread the gospel 0f scenic conservation. Ar rangements were made to secure colored lantern slides showing some of the beauty spots of the county as well as some of the districts which had been ruthlessly destroyed in order to more vividly impress upon the citizens of the county the de struction which the association wishes to avoid. s Addresses were made bv Prof. A. He went downstairs and after a search, finding no one, bought a newspaper, and en tered the elevator io return to his companions. Wolgamott got off at the seventh floo , so did the pas sengers, and they took Mr. Wolga mott's diamond with them. The theft of the diamond was ills- -overed soon afterwards, and an larm raised, but no trace found. The loss watt reported to the Los Angeles police, who alter question- ng a friend of Wolgamott's at great ngth, took up other clues without uccess. A reward of $500 was offered by Wolgamott in an ad in a newspaper for the return of the stone. 'THE SWEETHEART L12IH "Tho Sweetheart Rhop," a musical comedy, embracing more than the usual virtues of this sort of enter tainment, has settled into Us second week at the Columbia Theater. Edgar J. MacOregor, owner of "The Sweetheart Shop" is the husband of a San Francisco girl, and perhaps she has told him that the coast won't accept mediocre entertainment. At any rate, MacOregor must he given credit for using sound judgment in giving this city a musical comedy with an entlro original cast and eho rus and then to prove that he wasn't cheating, sent along some New iTork musicians. It is a gay company Is "The Sweet heart Shop." The chorus girls laugh and romp about the Columbia stage the stars shine their very best. Harry K. Morton is the comedian.
