The work of constructing the Med-
ford district irrigation system, which
was begun several days ago by the
Rogue River Valley Canal company
camps near Jacksonville and Central
Point Is progressing in these sections,
and preparations are being rushed to
establsh other camps in other sections
The steam shovel camp will be estab
lished near Phoenix in about a week.
A carload ot horses is expected by the
company hourly from Washington. In
all the company will use about 150
horses along with a force of 300 men
when the work gets well under way.

of the Medford Chamber of Cominorce
will receive their ballots for the pri
mary election of seven of the board of
directors whose term of office expires
at the annual meeting in April. The
election will close on March 15, after
which the final election takes place.
Included with the primary election
ballots will be found a referendum bal
lot for members upon the question of
the establishment of a community
chest here in Medford. Negative and
affirmative arguments are presented
therein, but a wider discussion of the
question should be given the subject,
and for that purpose the columns of
the Mail Tribune are offered. No arti
cle covering this subject should con
tain more than 300 words. Tho refer
endum ballot is returnable- with tho
primary election ballot as a matter of
saving postage.
