"Nobody's Fool," a comedy in j three acts, which was written express ly for her by Alan Dale, one of the most widely known dramatic critics and famous authorities on theatrical doings. Nobody's Knot," differs from Miss Dobson's previous successes "Tish," "The Rejuvenation of Aunt Mnrv " "A Little lilt Old Fashioned," etc.! inas much as it Is an original comedy, while the others were dramatizations of well known books or stories: in theme. It was not only built for laugh- "K purposes, but also to lend a touch iof nature, so much needed, but seldom tound in many soccallcd comedies. Miss Robson has a part different from any she has yet essayed, one which gives the charming comedienne a greater opportunity to display the versatility with which she Is endowed, and which hrinss her in closer touch with her audience, due to the fact that the character is one to be found in everyday life, almost in any home. Miss Robson Is assisted by John Sears Story, Robert E. Homans, Faye Cusiek, Jack Marvin, Lillian Harmer, Hess Dunlop and C. A. Winters. The stage settings are said to be lavish in the extreme. Adv. A large audience heard Ii.v, .1. A. Smith's Sermon, "The Philosophy of Salvation" Thursday night at the Kirst .Methodist church. Interest is increasing with each service and there ,1s general satisfaction that the re vival is to continue this week. Hew Dr. Smith said, in part: "Ood is a sovereign. The univorsc lis Mis kingdom. Just as the presence jof creation implies that Ood Is a cre- i "i, me jm c-Mi-ui u ul m a implies that He is a ruler. God's kingdom Is divided into two realms. Tho material and the spirit ual. Tho material realm is framed upon a fabric of laws which are cer tain and immutable. Wn nrn fnmll. 'in.. with Homo unuA e .. turo as tho law of gravity or the com bustion of matter. These laws are universally operative and no excep tion is made because of ignorance of their nature. The penalty for their violation is exacted as certainly from an innocent child as from a university professor of physlcn. The spiritual realm of God's uni verse is built upon a framework of laws just as inevitable and changeless as the laws of physical nature. What is a law ? It might be a natural force, uniform and universal in its operation. Inherent in tho very nature of tho physical universe. It might be a principle of moral conduct inherent In the economy of the spirit ual realm. It might be a legislative enactment written upon our statute books. But In every case to bo just the penalty attached to its violation, must, be severe in proportion to the right, which tho law is designed to safeguard. For example, theft is the violation of a law designed to pro tect the right of property rind merits a penitentiary sentence. Murder is the violation of a law designed to protect a much more important right, the right of life and merits tho capital punishment. But all of God's spiritual laws are designed to protect lights of the soul of such infinite Importance and eter nal significance that the violation of any one of them merits death. "The wages of sin is death.' Tho sinner, whether he violate many or few of God's spiritual laws, is a spiritual anarchist. A man who violates only a few of tho laws of the state of Oregon Is not considered an anarchist. Wherein lies the differ ence? The difference lies in the fact! that the laws of the state of Oregon are a multiplicity they are not mutu ally dependent; they do not stand or fall together; they are distinct in their principle. But the laws of God's spiritual realm are a unity; they are mutually dependent, based upon a common principle, and stand or fall together. The decalogue is not made up of ten distinct laws, but ten dif ferent manifestations of tho same underlying principle, the ',. love of God and man. And the man who violates ono of tho ten command ments violates tho underlying prin ciple of them all and is a rebel to di vine authority' SYMPATHETIC SERVICE nendered In a Quiet Dignified manner at THE PERL FUNERAL HOME ' Your loved one la taken Into the Home where there la alwaya aome one with', them. The picture was adapted from a great novel of tho Canadian northwest by Sir Gilbert Parker. Bryant Washburn's Comedy It is doubtful If Bryant Washburn has been seen in a more delightful comedy than "'An Amateur Devil" his latest picture, In which he appeared with signal success at the Rialto the atre yesterday. The many humorous situations with which the picture abounds, were heartily appreciated by all present. Given the mitten by his fiancee who objects to his peplcss wooing and "kickless kissing," Carver Endicott, a rich young man, decides to disgrace himself and his father, who, by tho way, Is his rival, by going to work on a farm. When this fails, he peels potatoes In a fashionable hotel kitch en, but the newspapers play him up as a self-sacrificing hero.
