A false report that John Anderson
the elderly man knocked down and
run over by an auto at the intersection
of Front and Main streets Friday fore
noon, had died last night at the hospi
tal, was In circulation today. Ander
'son who suffered only minor cuts and
bruises is getting along nicely but will
remain in the hospital for a day or so
yet until he Is able to travel again. He
Is penniless and is making his way on
freight trains to California where he
has hopes that a sister will give him a
homo.

some of the dirt streets of the east
side yesterday found that the streets
were too wet yet. to have this work
done. Despite tho dry appearance on
tho surface the, crew working with the
tractor, -which the city recently pur
chased, attached to tho scraper soon
discovered that It was soaking wet
underneath. Mr. Davis says it will be
useless to attempt to resume this work
for four or five dajs yet. The 'dirt
streets all over Medford are in very
rough condition with deep mud ruts,
and the work of smoothing them down
will be begun as soon as they are
dried out.
