MEDFOUT) MAIL TRIBUNE, MEDFOUP, ORKCiOX, Tl'KSDAV. FKlWlT.UiV 1021 P-VOTC FIVE FUTURE DRIVES FORMONEYJOPIG What will the attitude of the people of Medford be on future campaigns for funds? This question must considered by them sooner or Inter and therefore the forum committee of the Medford Chamber of Commerce has set aside the forum tomorrow for the discussion of this question. The Salvation Army last May want ed a campaign for funds. It was not considered an opportune time and it was postponed until September but for some unknown reason the cam paign never took place. The Salvation Army are now asking that the citizens provide them with a fund of $2000 all of which will be used to maintain their Medford quarters until the first of Jan uary 1922. Up to the present time no demand has beon made of the citizens 'of Jack son county from Btate headquarters for funds for the relief of the starving Chi nese, but that request Is momentarily expected. Funds for the support of the local work of the Red Ctosb are exhausted and unless money is provided the work must necessarily be discontinued. ' 1 What other relief measures will be put up to the people of Medford are not i known, but there should be some ac- ..'Hon taken by the citizens as to what their attitude will be and whatever de- version-js -arrived at, it should be the I expression of the leading citizens of : the community and for this reason members of the Medford Chamber of Commerce are urged to be present at the forum. 1 This being On Time week, an effort should be made that all assemble promptly In the lobby at noon. Lunch eon will be served ten minutes past twelve in the large dining room of the Medford hotel. , ,-' Livestock PORTLAND, Ore., Feb. 22. Cattle weak; no receipts. HANDLE FROST, TO IE .Word lias been received from Prof. Chas. F. Marvin, chief of the weather bureau, that Floyd D. Young, who has had charge of the fruit frost work in this valley for four years, will be sent here again this year and will ar rive about March 15. This will be welcome news for the fruit growers as Mr. Young is thoroughly acquainted with this valley, tho temperatures, etc. and Is better prepared to handle the frost work than any one else. The credit for Bonding Mr. Young here is due to the efforts of the Fruit growers league, Senator McNary and the appreciation by Prof. Marvin of Young's splendid work here and the esteem with which he Is held by the people of this valley. On Time Colyum Kutii dny tills week there will ap pear in tills column h lories, essay B ami poems written by tho pupils of the city schools. In conjunction there will appear a few Items from other sources emphasizing the value of time and of punctuality. These will he credited to their sources whenever possible. . NOW. "The great clock of Time has but one word. NOW." Delays have dangerous ends. Cae sar's delay In reading a message cost him his life. There are only two ways to suc cess. They are: Being Honest and Being on Time. Being on time in sowing your seed insures you better crops. If you do not sow your grain at the right time, it will be out of season and the sum mer will not be long enough for the seed to sprout and grow. Your crop will then be lost because you were not on time with your planting. If the little stars were delayed one second it would put the whole uni verse out of harmony. If you tell anyone that you will meet them at a certain time be sure to bo there; for. if you are not, people will doubt your word and will lose confidence in you. One of the best things about school life Is that the bell which strikes the hour for ris ing, for recitation or for lectures, teaches promptness. When his secretary once excused his lateness by saying that his watch was slow. Washington replied, "Then you must get a new watch, or 1 another secretary." A few minutes often makes all the difference between victory and de feat; success and failure. IIACIIKL KADS, . Washington School.
