Any attempt by Great Britain to build a big navy in compe tition with the United States would be "absolutely disastrous," say some of the leading weekly periodicals ot Lon don, in commenting on the nuval esti mates for tho current year As pie rsented in the house of commons these estimates wore fixed at 90.S72.300 pounds sterling. The Spectator condemns the post war recrudescence of navausm un der the caption "The Naval Skin Game." "Against whom should we be building?" It asks. "Either against America or Japan. We should not be building against both for an alliance between them against Great Brituin Is inconceivable. "We want to say most .emphatically that in our opinion a competition with America would bo absolutely dis astrous. We hope tho nation . will never consent to It." Any suggestion of a "two keels to one nuval policy as directed against the United States the- Spectator dis misses as ludicrous, and it underscores the phrase: "We must not form our policy on the possibility of a war with America." ."If ever we joined with Japan against America, we should have sounded the knell of the British cm plre," the paper concludes. The Nation, which brands big naval Isin us sheer Uuiucy, also strongly op poses naval competition with the United State which It- says will have h navy superior, to the British in 1924. "We cannot successfully enter on a shipbuilding competition with Amerlcn which has twice 'otir ' population ami four times our resources," this paper says and it continues: "Our navulistH have put another nnll in the coffin o fthe league of nations, Unless this policy is repudiated at once, it will do more than anything olse to keep America out of the league, to Impel her to a political and econom ic isolation, developing her full powers of military and naval defense, drawing the South American states into a Pan- Americanism, fatal to the larger inter nationalism, and depriving the broken countries of Europe of the economic and financial aid that they badly need, and that only the trade credit of Amer ica can supply. That way lies neither peace, nor economic recovery, nor fi nancial salvation." ews (Furnished by me Jackson County Abstract Co.) Marriage Licenses Harry E. Smith andGoldie II. Beeler John C. Cleanse the blood, bowels and liver with Dr. Edwards' Olive Tablets, the successful substitute for calomel; there's no sickness or pain after taking them. Dr. Edward3 Olive Tablets do that which calomel does, and just as effec-' tively, but their action is gentle and safe instead of severe and irritating. No one who takes Olive Tablets is ever cursed with a "dark brown taste," a bad breath, a dull, listless, "no good" feeling, constipation, torpid liver, bad lusposition or pimply face, i Olive Tablets are a purely vegetable compound mixed with olive oil; you will know them by their olive color. Dr. Edwards spent years among pa tients afflicted with fiver and bowel complaints, and Olive Tablets are the Immensely effective result. Take one or two nightly for a week.
