Camp Lewis is twenty miles from Tacoma, Turing the war Camp Lewis was occupied by the 91st aud lath'dlvisiona.' There is a great deal of amusement and social life pro vided for the soldiers of the camp literary,. Liberty .theatre,' Red Cross Hostess house, service clubs'and the Non-Commltssioned Officers.' club. A dunce is held every week at the Red Cross Hostess house for all soldiers of the camp. ' The Non-Commissloned Officers' club also has weekly dances. Camp Lewis maintains a largo voca tional' school '. wliorc'4 soldiers are taught all grammar school and high sihool subjects, such as arithmetic, algebra, geometry and Spanish. Bus iness courses are also taught which include typewriting, shorthand and bookkeeping. The most popular course, however, - at tho vocational schools is the automobile and motor truck mechanics' course. This course develops a soldier into a trained re pairman and automobile mechanic. These schools are maintained free by the government for ail men of the camp. The 35th Infantry is accepting men for one or three years enlist ments.
