TOURIST HURT
BOOSTS FOR GD.
Herbert Cuthbert, secretary of the
VortbwestTourist association, was in
jledford today with the Ad club auto
caravan, and expressed great interest
in the proposed county bond issue for
good roads, to bo voted on tomorrow.
"A good road to Crater Lake" he
said, "and one down the Applegalo
to the Oregon caves, will bring Jled
ford and southern Oregon the most
profitable crop imaginable, n crop
which takes out no money and brings
In hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The northwest is just awakening to
the value of tourists in dollars and
cents, a value that California has ex
ploited with such signal success these
nmny years. And don't forget your
auto camping grounds. In 'Walla
jJValla alone, which hasn't one per
cent of the scenic and climatic ad
vantages of Jackson county, in one
day there were 2791 families camped
in their grounds. Of these 4 7 fam
ilies located in Walla Walla district
permanently. It's tho same story
gverywhere. Prepare comforts for
:he tourists and they will come, give
,-ou part of their money and many re
nain permanently attracted by your
leUghtful climate, and great natural
esources."
