Notwithstanding that Mr. Wilson's confidential address to the navy on how to win the war was good, taking tho peaco conforonco as n sample, It Is Just as well that the admirals han dled it. There nre also many people who can not see what his fulsome, re marks on board a battleship, has to do with tho alleged blunders of Jose phus Daniels. Ut.: Wow that Mr. Hairy Manning, has Caruso in a hole, Mr. Itlchard Anile Is persuading him to do blnckfaco stuff, and put Lew Dockstadter and Al Jolson on tho bum. T liESIDEXT WILSON'S message- to fiilbcrt llamaker T of Portland jnts Oregon denim rats in a (iiaii(lry. The message insists upon nniialifie'd support of the leagiie covenant, and flatly opposes tin Lodge reservations. But Senator Chamberlain voted for the Lodge reserva tions. 1 lie natural assumption is tlie pvesicleiit expects his oartv in this state to vote against "Our George." Lut will they? AVe rather doubt it, J 1 1 our opinion the majority of the Democrats will vote for Senator Chamberlain with mental reservations. They will vote for him because they realize his defeat will mean the election of a Republican to the senate. They will vote for him in spite of hi.s record on the peace treaty instead of because of it. There is a good deal in what Senator McC'iunher has said about the peace; treat' as an issue in the campaign. Party linesVill not be drawn strictly on treaty lines. There are too many other considerations involved. In fact, the probabilities are both major parties will endorse the league with reservations, the only difference being a milder fori, for the Democrats than the Republicans. Both parties will then claim possession of the only gen uine article, but the rank and file, will largely discount tin entire question, and support the party- which, in their opin ion, gives the best prospect of returning the country to n basis of economic stability, and alleviating this devastat ing .sickness of discontent. The most conspicuous phcnomincna today is gtuiera' disgust with the whole political performance. The peoph arc wearied to death with congress, with propoganda, will the time honored bunk of a bygone age. They want a ncv deal all around, and they are going to vote for the part that gives the best promise of securing it. There are two important rules to observe in the 'pri mary election regarding the amendments, local and statt candidates. On the latter, vote for the man best qualifier: for tho job, regardless of all other considerations, on tin 'amendments, don't vote at all unless you know what tin amendment means. In other worfls, study the ballot now secure all the information you can, and with this knowledge at band, vote; accordingly. An ignorant vote is worse thai no vole at all. If you didn't read the ejue'stions and answers on II county road bond issue in yesterday's paper, read then today" There is the entire situation in a nutshell. If .yen want $900,000 ef outside money spent in Jackson Ciunitj for farm roads, vote for the nonets. AVe can't he'lp but admire. Johnson's virtuesity. lie ha? the radical vote salted, now he will tour the' east and show the business men he isn't what the radicals think he is. The voter who just paid 2-1 cents a pound lor sugar wil' have a pretty friendly feeling for ITeioycr when he gets ii the voting '.moth. It's a pretty safe bet that Debs will carry every peni tentiary in the country. Juno bribes are golting ready to fasten on tho June bridles. REPORT MANY GASES Says we must keep feet dry j avoid exposure and cat less meat. Stay off the damp ground, avoid ex posure, keep feet dry, eat less meat, drink lots of water and above all take a spoonful of salts occasionally to keep down uric acid. Rheumatism is caused by poisonous toxin, called uric acid, which is gene rated in the bowels and absorbed into the blood. It is the function of the kidneys to filter this acid from the blood and cast it out in the urine. The fores of the skin are also a means of reeing the blood of this impurity. In damp and chilly, cold weather the skin porej are closed, thus forcing the kid neys to do double work, llicy become weak and sluggish and fail to eliminate this uric acid which keeps accumulating and circulating through the system, eventually settling in the joints and muscles causing stiffness soreness and pain called rheumatism. At the first twinge of rheumatism get from any pharmacy alout four ounces of Jad Salts; put a tablespoon fill in a glass of water and drink before breakfast each morning for a week. Thi: is said to eliminate uric acid by stimu lating the kidneys to normal action, thus ridding the blood af these impur ities. , Jad Salts is Inexpensive, harmless anc Is made from the acid of granes and lemon juice, combined with litliia and it used with excellent results by thou sands of folks who are subject to rheu matism. Here you have a pleasant, effervescent litlua-water drink which overcomes uric acid and is bencliciul to your kidneys as well. TIRED OF IT. T'V.H CIROWN" so tired of striking that work looks A goeiel to me; though I've had little liking, eif late, for industry. The war geit nie unsettled, unfit, lor honest toil, and, like the palfrey metth'd, 1 reared and pawed the soil. I called on men and brothers to come anil strike with nie, anil set their elaels and inclines from tyrants' shackles free. Ami all the boys res emiled, ami quit their useful tasks, grew whiskers many-frond-e'd, and yawped from kegs and casks. Like nie, they called en wtrkcrs to throw their handsaws down, and join the ranks of shirkers who thronged the ielle town. And so our graft kept spreading, and ran us all in debt, and very few we're treading the paths where toilers sweat, f sat., with other bumpkins, around the Hlue Front store, ami no one grew two pumpkins where bin one grew be'fore. Ami no one ploweel a furrow, or made an anvil ring, or came emt from his burrow to laugh and dance and sing, lint all were talking sorrow, anil pessimism black, and swearing that loniorrenv would see our bulwarks crack. And now I'm tired of striking, I need some iron men, and gladly I'd go hiking to make things hum again.
