The Perry warehouse frontincr on the Southern Pucific opposite the Jackson county 'creamery on Fir street, today became the home of the Form Bureau Co-Operative associa tion and it will he used for offices and general wareiiou.se purposes. This is one of tho most desirable ware houKe properties in the city and the Furm Bureau officials are very much pleased with the transaction. The Farm Bureau will carry a full line of feeds and seeds after August 15. Up until that date poultry feeds and mill feeds will be the extent of feed operations. In addition to these feeds they will handle trrain sacks, cl'ks, veal, poultry, hides and continue the marketing of livestock in car lots. KuVer Johnson, formerly of the Johnson Produce Company, Central Point, will bo in charec of the poultry I und eirir department. Mr. Johnson is one of the best poultry and ees men in tho state. He spent several venrs with Cudalinv & Company, both in the east and in California, before comine to Southern Oreeon to ea into busi ness at Central Point and Mcdford The Furm Bureau is becoming o biff fuetor amomr the fanners of the United States and it is a credit to the fanners of Jackson County that tlicy are building an organization upon a permanent basis, irriculturo is said to bo the backbone of civilization to day and the way fanners are lenviuc the farms to take up more lucrative employment is nothing short of sui cide. The American Farm Bureau Federation lias a program of work, which if put into effect should greatly improve agricultural conditions over the oountry and place tho profession of farming where it belongs. The development of electric labor saving machinery for the farm has brought to light some very interesting figures. Take for instanco the mat tor of pumping und currying water. For all household purposes such us drinking, cooking, washing, scrub bing, and cleaning, the average fann family will use about 7 gullons pe person every day or 42 gallons for a family of six. Now 42 gallons water weigh 3.10 pounds and if those 12 gallons are pumped and carried on only 300 days out of the year, it will menn that some one will have to pump and carry 100.ROO pounds, or over SO tons of water every year. Further more, if a 3-galhm bucket is used it will mean 34 trips to the well every day, and if the well is fi feet from the house, this will mean 30;14 or 4211 feet daily. In only 300 days this will amount to 120,000 feet or nearly 21 miles. i So tho farmer's wifo who pump and carries water for the house walks 12 miles to the pump every year, pumps GO tons of water and walks 12 miles buck to the house carryin: the fit) tons of water.
