EDFOKIJ ME TKIBUNB.' WftnTTFiTD, OT,F.fiOX. WEDNESDAY. "APT.TL 21. 1920. ; l i A ': I -i M I IS E GHT'S PLAY (Lciui Cass Bacr in Sun. Orcspninni yiolot Heming, who luis been pluv inK here the past week in ".Three Faces East," is a sort of violet per sonage, a woodsy violet, and, while she isn't exactly a wild violet, or, us the small lad said, a frantic flower, when he meant wild flower, she i just .as certainly not an exotic hot liouso violet. Her eyes are tne same . purpline blue as the. senile blossom whose name was given her, her Voice is full of little lurking luuuhs and "when she converses she has n flutter ing and fascinating way of looking oiily.at the person she is uddrcssim: It is rather unusual. Most actresses, when being inter viewed, plant themselves near a mir ror and never take their eves off their ' reflection in tho class. ; The practice is not confined to ' actresses alone. Women plant them- selvcsln front-of mirrors in elevators and'powder their noses or gaze in ad miration at 'their series of double chins or hats while thev murmur ab sently: "Is the beauty department ' on tho third or seventh floor, dearie?' In restaurants and hotel dining-rooms - the looking glass habit prevails and even along the highways and byways women stop, stare fascinatedly and continue to stare at their mirrored re flections. Occasionally, and only occasionally. is the action justified. It would have been justified if Violet lleming luni chnnced to peop at a mirror opposite her, but she didn't even so much as glance there. 'Possibly her mirror told her yenrs ago how very lovely she is, and so she doesn't press thv point. Miss Heming English Sho is English and comes of an old theatrical family, which has helped make history in England? playhouses. I Ier forebears and fore-' boaresses were among (he actors ol ' Shakespeare's day and enjoyed not Only a personal acquaintance .with the W. K. writer, but were the oriii-- ' mils in many of his plays. Her father - Alfred Homing, ebntrols two theaters, one in tho Isle of Slim and another at Portsmouth. Her mother is Mabel Allen, a wellrknown English actress. In this connection, Miss Heming told jf the original production of '"I'll Christian" for copyright purposes in which her mother played the origi nal Glory Quayle. Hall Cuine sip pearcd in the play, and Mrs. Cninc and Miss Ileming's father. The Hemings and Caincs arc close friends. For that matter Violet Hem ihg has warm personnl friendships -with dozens of women and men of literary, musicnl and artiHtic circles in London and is intensely a lover of her "nin countrie." ' Miss Ileming's hostess on the nio tbr trip up the highway was Mrs. Robert Tucker, wife of Judge Tucker, whose son.'Hnrlund Tucker, was n-co-plnyer with Miss Heming in "Under Fire," a war play of last season. ' Mr. Ed Moore was out from Hert ford to his. ranch in the Meadows Monday. Mr. Moikle and Ma-. Greer wore out for n one night stay with Mr. and Mrs. J. Glass before going on to Eugene. ; Mr. Holmes was up from Lane cbunty in tho Willamette and brought his little boy to stay with Mr. ami Mrs. Jess Gluss for his hoaltli. Mr. Holmes lost his wife from the flu and was left with four very small children, which kind friends took into their hohies. .. Mir. Morris was out to visit the school Thursdnv at Antioch. ;; Mr. W. C. Chapman and Mr. R. E. jifoore made a trip to Wimer on busi ness Saturday. - i- Mrs. Frank Jtvcrs was able to be removed from Medford this week ami is staving with her mother, Mrs. J. Lund in Jackson county :. lo Dr. Edwards' Olive Tablets Get . at the Cause and Remove It Dr. Edwards' Olive Tablets, the sub stitute for calomel, act gently on the bowels and positively do the work. People afflicted with bad breath find quick relief through Dr. Edwards' Olive Tablets. The pleasant, sugar-coated tablets are taken for bad breath by all who know them. Dr. Edwards' Olive Tablets act gen tly but firmly on the bowels and liver, stimulating them to natural action, clearing the blood and gently purifying the entire system. They do that which dangerous calomel does without any of the bad after effects. All the benefits of nasty, sickening, griping cathartics are derived from Dr. Edwards' Olive Tablets without Eripingjjainor anydisagreeable effects. Dr. F. M. Edwards discovered the formula after seventeen years of prac tice among patients afflicted with bowel and liver complaint, with the attendant bad breath. Olive Tablets are purely a -vegetable compound mixed with olive oil; you will know them by their olive color. Take one or two every night for a weak and note the effect. 10c and 2tc HEM VTA JfTED MALE WANTED Men. S3. 00 Der day anil ooaru. I'hone 6S5-J-3. 33 SELL NURSERY STOCK FOR US ' uoou territory open.
