Grants Pass is financing an irriga
tion project which will employ the
waters of the Rogue in stabilizing the
production of its fertile valley, says
the Portland Journal. It is an enter
prise which beckons success not only
because the feasibility of southern
Oregon irrigation has been proven,
but because' resident owners .have as
sumed responsibility for the project
and they have declared that in future
sub-divisions the price of land shall
be based upon its productivity. Had
one or two other southern Oregon
communities in the past wisely re
strained speculative inflation of land
values they would be in more hopeful
position today. To charge for agri
cultural land more than the land can
return In production is always disas
trous to any community.
