The following poison for mixing and instructions for use thereof is the method most expedient and effec tive to be used for I'he extermination and destruction of such ground squir rels and is hereby recommended, trA wit, alkaloid strychnine used 01 either :barler or wheat, barley prefer red, mixed according to the following formula and manner, to-wit: - Barley, clean grain, 1 (J quarts. This material should be mixed as follows: Mix thoroughly 1 ounce of powdered stryehnino (alkaloid) nnd 1 ounce of common baking soda, faift this into one-half pint of thi nhot paste and stir to a smc'oth creamy iuhkh. (The starch panto is made by dissolving 1 heaping tablespoonful of dry gloss starch in n little cold water, which is then added to t hree-foitrthr pint of boiling water. Boil and stir constantly until a clear thin paste is formed.) Add one-fourth pint ol heavy corn syrup and one tablespo'c'n ful of glycerine and stir thoroughly. Add l-Ii) ounce of saccharine and stir thoroughly.
