"Well, this. sort of a thing is gratifying to the average, erring human. It shows pretty conclusively that after al! there is nothing so very supremo about 1 lie Supreme Court. Members of this very august body are as likely to disagree with each other, as millions of men and wo men are likely to disagree with them. Moreover what is constitutional one year is not constitutional the next for Supreme Court judges are mortal and opinions, even in Washington change. However there is no question but that with the Amer ican people as a whole the decision will be popular. STow that national prohibition is to be tried, there is a general disposition' to give it fair and thorough trialwithout encouraging a wet spasm as an introduction. No one can tell with any confidence how the experi ment will work out. There will undoubtedly be strong liquor made and 'consumed, there will undoubtedly be wood alcolrol deaths and lemon extract poisoning, but there is a pretty general feeling, that all in all the coun try will.be better off under prohibition, that it was under a general wet regime. At any rate the die is cast and the people want to see the experiment given a genuine and uncompromising try-out. There isn't a dry state in the union that Avould return to a wet regime. Perhaps many opponents of na tional prohibition now will feel quite differently after a bone dpy administration has been in force for a time. Incerasa Tax Facto Yosa Sheualif! &smw in law.
