A number of boys picking cherries
along Bear creek had a bad fright
yesterday afternoon and Incidentally
started a scare whon they rushed to
the home of a South Central avenue
woman and declared they had seen a
murdered man lying In the brush by
the creek. The woman at once sum
moned Chief ot Police Timothy who
investigated and discovered that the
supposed dead man was the cut oft
paw of a bear sortie one had skinned
and thrown into the brush. The mu-1
tllated paw stuck up out of t ho -grass
and much resembled the hand of a j
