He cut In across lots from West Main street to reach his home on North Orange and on pass ing thru a vacant lot glanced up and saw ahead a white rooster lying down In his path. Mr. Man ning has been compelled to walk with a cane ever since. Blood poison was at first feared but danger has now passed. -. The same rooster, which weighs about ten pounds; bears a reputation for fierceness, having also recently attacked Ed Warner's son and driven a neighbor woman In the house. Deputy Game Warden Ed Walkor made a raid at the .Gold Kay dam early last night and arrested Floyd Rlppey, R." H. Jones, Verne Van Dyke, William Nichols, of Medford -and Sim Morris who is connected with the Park garage at Ashland. Before Justice Taylor today Rlppey pleaded guilty to the charge of hook ing fish and was fined fifty dollars and costs; Van Dyke vand Nichols pleaded not guilty and their trials were set for next Tuesday. On rec ommendation of Prosecutor Roberts the charges against Jones and Morris were dismissed for lack of sufficient evidence as Jones only transported the party to the dam from this city. and Morris only handed Rlppey a pole. Tho deputy game warden claims the party started In at. 7:30 p. m. hooking fish from the fishway, Rlp pey doing the actual work of hooking and Van Dyke and Nichols killing the fish with clubs as he tossed them out. In a half hour. Walker says, they took out three gunny sacks full of fish. He watched them all this tlmh from his place of concealment on the other bank of the river, and finally decided to close in on them.
