Gas in the Stomach Is Dangerous Recommends Daily Use of Magnesia To Overcome Trouble, Caused by . ' Fermenting Food and Acid . , Indigestion. Gas and wind in the stomach ac ' companietl by that full, bloated feel ing after eating are almost certain evidence of the presence of excessive ' hydrochloric acid in the stomach, creating so-called "acid indigestion." Acid stomachs are dangerous be cause too much acid Irritates the del- .' cate lining ot the stomach, often . leading to gastritis accompanied by serious stomach ulcers. Food fer monts and sours, creating the dis- , tressing gas which distends the stom- . ach and hampers the normal func tions of the vital internal , organs, . often affecting the heart. . ' It Is tho worst of folly to neglect . such a serious condition or to treat -with ordinary digestive aids which have no neutralizing effect on the .' stomach acids. Instead get from any 'druggist a few ounces of Bisurated - Magnesia and take a teaspoonful in a quarter glass of water right after . eating. ' This will drive the gas, wind and bloat right out of the body, . sweeten the stomach, neutralize the excess acid .and prevent Its formation and there is no sourness or pain. . SBisurated Magnesia (In powder or tablet form never liquid or milk) Is , harmless to the stomach. Inexpensive .to take and the best form of magne sia for stomach purposes.' It is used by thousands of people who enjoy their meals with no jnoro fear of ln- diction. . .. Adv. UP TO GERMANY is peevish. She doesn't like the terms of , the peace treaty. For a nation that negotiated the infamous Brst-Litvosk treaty it ill becomes Germany to complain. She risked everything in a war of annihiliation and conquest. She lost. She is merely reaping the whirl wind she sowed; " The annihilation and conquest she wished to impose upon others, is imposed upon her. That is about all the average man can see in tho whining froni jjerim. In regard to the details of judgment. It would take a unto geographer," a doctor of tautology, to torm even, a values involved. , But in the in keeping with the temper nations. .. It is a stern document, but' it was a stern war. There will be talk of resistance, of a Bolsheviki revolution, of an alliance with Russia, but in taese outbursts will probably subside and become properly classified as bluff. , i - i - '.-;,. ,-' The immediate need of the world was to remove the German menace for all time. s This apparently has been done. Now, if Germany has the sportsmanship and wis dom to yield to this world demand, the gradual intro duction of a more sympathetic, and conciliatory attitude will be possible. But if she shows no inclination of re demption, if the bravado and iihrependance at Versailles is a true index to the feeling qf the German people, then an uncompromising attitude of hostility reinforced by punitive measures, must be .'lae iutitre is up to Uermanv, just as the future of the individual law breaker is up sition to accept tno judgment of the court, and give proof of a determination to reformxwill find the world in a mood to aid rather than drag down. But an attitude of sullen defiance and self justification will only lead to. more se vere punishment and greater degradation. , To the Editor: ; A very successful production of the play of "Hamlef. without Ham let." was staged at the library Tues day evening, when Mr. A. G. Clark, general nianneer , of the Associated Industries of Oregon, lectured on the subject of patronizing home indus tries before an audience of interested consumers. Hamlet, represented by the producers and merchants of Med ford, was most conspicuous by his absence. '- - - '', '. V ': Mr. Clark has the interests of the producer and merchant at heart, and a message, filled with . irrefutable arguments for the consumer; he is endeavoring to educate the people of each community to the fact that the success of their town's development depends .on the organized patronage of their home, merchants.. He has lectured in nearly every progressive town in the state, but M.edford has the distinction of being the ;,onIv town, in which he has appeared, where not one merchant or manufac turer attended his lecture. . Mr. Clark's subject was "Cooper ation." The object of the Associated Industries of Oregon is to make Oregon a great industrial state, and as he points out, this cannot be real ized unless producer, merchant and consumer work together. - The main idea is. each community for itself all communities for the state. Our own slogan, "By Medford trade i Med ford made" had a hollow sound un til Mr. Clark interpreted its meaning to us. If he noted the complete ab sence of our business men he did not comment on it. In fact he plead so earnestly for their cause, one would have thought that the room was fill with them and' that he was striving for their favor. He paid a high trib ute to our merchants and the spirit that prompted them to exhibit' such wonderful, metropolitan window dis plays in the business section this Victory Week. If any merchant had been present he would have purred like a happy kitten from satisfaction and contentment, but as it was,- all the sincere compliment, the urgent pleas put forth in their interests, were like the sweet, scented flowers one places on the casket of the dear departed He was not there to hear them. . ''") . ' ,1 . ., . For three weeks, notices of this lecture have appeured. from time to time, in the local papers : - Monday, committees from the Medford branch of the Associated Industries of Ore gon called on each and every mer chant in town and urged him or her to be present Tuesday evening. The main propaganda being spread by these branch leagues is in the direct interests of the ' local merchant ; within the past few weeks members of the Medford branch have secured the signatures of hundreds of house wives in this town to pledge cards, stating that thev would abolish the muil order method of trading and patronize home merchants, and in sist on Oregon products. The Asso ciated industries has started a big patriotic movement and new converts are being made ovorv daV. but the disinterestedness of our local mer chants makes one feel like well, Cooperate? One must have someone to cooperate : With. Those who heard Mr. Clark learned many interesting things for his lec ture was cdiicationul as well us' log ical, lie inspired one with u hew confidence and pride in tho state of Oregon., and it, is to be rrantlloil t'nnt GERMANY. the treaty it is well to reserve Philadelphia lawyer, a srrad ethnology, and an expert in lmzv judgment of the precise main the treaty appeal's to be of the people of the allied the light of future events, applied. : - " to the individual.
