the Uuited States Brewers Associa
tion today applied to the federal dis
trict court for an injunction restrain
ing the collector of internal ruvemic
and the United States district attor
ney frob beginning anv proceedings
to interfere with ' its contemplated
production of beer 6f two and three
quarters per cent alcoholic content.
William D. Guthrie, counsel for the
United States Brewers' Association
and allied organisations, announced

of the brewers to have beer of two
and threc-auarters alcoholio content
declared a non-intoxionting beverucc.
The contest against the covcrnment
restriction of the alcoholic strength
to less than one-half of one per cent,
ho stated, would be broncht into the
federal courts today bv the Joseph
Hoffmann Brewing company of this
city, which would ask for an order
restraining the commissioner of in
ternal revenue from interfering with
its contemplated production of two
and three-fourts per cent beer.
