TAOTj KTflTTT mtcdfoth) matt; Tirmurrc. MrcmroTtT, octgon, Friday, COLLINS ELECTED EXALTED RULER BY ELKS LODGE Following their annual election ot officers last nlfrht at which George M. Collins was elected exalted ruler, the Kilts turned all their energies into entertaining and welcoming home those of their members who had re turned from war service since Inst month's affair held for a similar pur- . pnse, and from then on music, vaude ville stunts, fun and patriotic fea tures was the order. Colonol H. H. Sargent and a number of soldiers not Elks were guests of honor at the smoker and entertainment, as were a number of women members ot the Modford Choral society. A. Y. Crowson, the chairman of the smoker session, and Porter J. Neff made formal addresses ot wel come to the soldiers. There were many excellent features on the pro gram, but the distinct hits were made by Colonel Sargent'B informal ad dress, and the magician and legerde maine stunt by Prof. Jucius Appleus Hemstreet, altho Court Hail's panto mime singing of "Rock a by Baby" rocked the house. ... : In n Xew Role . Dignified Colonel .Sargent appear ed In a new role, for after being un expectedly called on for a speech, and having declared that he had never been able to make an extem poraneous address without previous preparation, he gave thevlle to that assertion hy continuing, and with de licious humor relating some - inci dents of his forty years service in the TJ. S. army and personal reminis cences of :he late President Roose- ' velt bo Interesting that he could have held his audience tor hours. Prof. Hemstreet who was formerly In the theatrical business and who in private life is a local power company employe, astonished the , audience , with his magician stunts, performing the seeming impossible with grace and ease. While no trick , of ledger- demaine seemed too difficult for him he balked and gave up when request- ed to plant several hairs on the shin ing dome of the newly elected exalt- v Arl ruler. ' . At the conclusion ot the smoker program the assemblage adjourned to the banquet room in the basement I and feasted. The following was the smoker program: . fmoker Program . to the dead herpes "In Flanders Fields," Gus Newbury; sel ection, Prof. Launspach's orchestra: tribute to French flag. Mc Curdy; selection, orchestra; legerde xnaine, Prof. Hemstreet; duet, Geo. Andrews" and Mrs. Isaacs; address. Porter J. Neff; nonsense, foolishness, ' etc., Geo. Collins and Buck Hounds. . The annual election of officers took very little time, there being only one contest, that for the office of exalted ruler to which two men aspired. Mr. Collins was elected by a large majority over his worthy op ponent in an exceedingly friendly contest. The following were the oth er officers elected: ' ' Esteemed leading knight, B. This condition soon breeds deadly disease In the fermented, un assimilated food. The blood is pol luted and carries the infection throughout the body. Gastric ulcers are apt to form and frequently an ulcer is the first sign ot a deadly cancer. In catarrh of the stomach a good and safe treatment Is to take before meals a teaspoon fill of pure Bisurat ed Magnesia in half a glass of hot water as hot as you tan comfortably drink it. The hot water washes the mucous from the stomach walls and draws the blood to the stomach while the blsurated magnesia is an 'excel lent solvent for mucous and Increases the efficiency of the hot water treat ment. "Moreover the Bisurated Mag nesia will serve as a powerfuHbut harmless antacid which will neutral ize any excess hydrochloric acid that may be in your stomach and sweeten its food contents. Easy, natural di gestion without distress of any kind Bhould soon follow. Blsurated Mag nesia is not a laxative, is harmless, pleasant and easy to take and can be obtained from any local druggist. Don't confuse Bisurated Magnesia with other forms of magnesia, milks, citrates, etc., but get It in the pure bisurated form (powder or tablets), especially prepared for this purpose.
