no definite plans for the future just

each' 1000 gallons of oily water con
sumed at its plant except in the case
of a new concern, which has not been
in Operation a year, which will get
free water. This rule does not apply
to the pQtids of the lumber mills,
which will get free water, using the
surplus overflow from the city reser
voir between the hours of midnight
and 4 a. m. The council adopted this
policy last night, the question being
brought up by the application of S.
S. Bullls and CM. Kidd for the con
tinuation of free water for the Ap
plegate Lumber company's now plant
being erected at the Crater Lake
Junction of the Southern Pacific and
Pacific ft lOastorn railroads.

Chas. Osweld came in from the
Dry creek district yesterday with
small load of fine 'Xewtdwn apples
which he sold readily at S1.25 per
box without packing. He has an
eighty acre ranch, ant altho eighty-
three years old, does the most of
the work on the ranch. He keeps
cows, hogs and poultry and says that
he made 1600 on the ranch this year.
