The number of passengers has so
decreased owing to, the conditions oc
casioned by the "flu", epidemic, that
the interurban automobile- service
has reduced' their number of trips by
one-fourth, having replaced their
usual schedule by a new "flu'' sched
ule. i '

ford this morning en route south, a
paper pellet was-thrown which was
picked up by J. M. Lofland. Inside
was the copper tip of a rifle bullet
badly dented and on the paper was
written in pencil "Private Clarence
Swisher, Company I, 44th infantry.
Presidio, California. This bullet
came from France. Please answer.
Mr. Lofland will keep the bullet and
the note as a souvenir of the war
and will write acknowledging receipt
of same.

There were four special trains
thru the city today transferring the
44th infantry from Camp Lewis to
Presidio. It is a reminder of war
times and the hoys were as jolly as
thejf were a few months ago when
they were going north to the training
camps.

been under a doctor's care for sev
eral days, hut it was not until a few
hours before the operation that the
case whs dincnosed as appendicitis,
The operation proved a very serious
one and Jcnhette never recovered
from the shock.
Jcnnetto was confirmed in tho Epis
copal church in February, 1018. and
