His present head quarters are at Seattle, where his army assignment is particularly to v supervise military equipment and material. He was sent to southern Oregon to look after certain official ' matters both here and at Medford. 'Ho Is looking fine, in fact Is a typical representative of the nation's mul ctary establishment, courteous, alert, j and stands for the highest ideals In ? tf!o service. Since leaving Athland I .;he has had but one brief furlough I and has been freo fcom illness. His family Is also located at Seattle. Ben Hatfield, new proprietor of the Park garage, is installing an oil house under the Peil Stairway which is the cutoff leading from the Plaza over the bluff to Granite street. Clyde Costollo, local barber, is temporarily out of his shop on East Main street, duo to illness. The state textbook committee is planning to make its selections of books which will be recommended to the schools thruout Oregon, the list to be submitted next June, and the selections to prevail in use for six years from that rate.
