Another mes sage from the capital of the dual monarchy says that the emperor and empress drove In the public parks on Sunday and received cordial saluta lions from the populace. Tuesday evening about six o'clock the Southern Oregon Traction com pany's street car outbound for Jack sonville ran headon into the logging train at the Applcgate Lumber com pany mill just west of the city. The logging train was standing on the muln line waiting to get up steam be fore proceeding when the street car came into sight. The fireman ot tho logging train was sent ahead tc flag the street car but owing to his no; having a light of any kind tho motor man failed to see him and went by. As soon as he saw the train on the track he Immediately threw tho car Into the reverse sliding the wheels for about thirty feet but was unable to stop In time to avoid the collision. The street cur is equipped with nothing but a band brake and In such an emergency Is of little use. The passengers were more or less shaken up and the front end of the street car demolished. It will be several days before it can be put Into commission again as the controller box was smashed, some of 'the timber sup ports broken and many minor parts will have to bo replaced before the car will be In running order.
