STREET GROSSING
Tho Jackson County Creamery Is
working ono tru.k short today due
to having ono of their largo Maxwell
trmka Binorhed up by a south hound
Southern Pacific freight .train at the
Third street crossing this morning at
about 8:20 o'clock. Lyle Plckel who
was driving the truck cast on Third
street did not seo tho approaching
train from the north in timo to stop
and tho train hit his truck well parit
tho center and turned it completely
around and hit it again in front
throwing it cloar of the track and
breaking down one of the S. P. tres
pass signs as well as marring the
sido of n topograph pole. Plckel
stayed with his machine and rode it
thru, coming out uninjured but pret
ty badly ahaken up and scared.
The machine is practically a total
wreck, three wheels were broken off,
tho framo broken iu two places, body
all splintered up, radiator smashed,
crank case cracked and tho truck
generally twisted out of shape. How
ever, strange as it may seem, neither
tho windshield nor two glass win
dows In tho cab were oven cracked.
How tho driver could como out of
such a wreck without a scratch is a
mirnclo but Plckel is right on the
job the same as ever. The manager
of (lie creamery hadn't decided whe
ther to junk the outfit or try to have
it repaired.

When Will the
War End?
V'e hopo the war will end before
Jan. 1st. 1919. But the only safe
way Is to figure that It won't end for
another year.
This means that we must figure
that there won't be nny new cars
next summer.
But you'll vant a new car next
summer, and won't be ablo to get
one.
Tho next best thin? to do Is to
make your old car Into a new one.
Yon have no idea how small an
expenditure It will take to bring your
car back to a youthful condition.
Furthermore, on inspection NOW
may save you money later on, for

M'e shall be pleased to look your
car over for ?2.T0 and give you our
