If Mcdf'ord docs not .subscribe tlic quota, she will fairly earn the stigma. Jt oiiLrlit not to be nccc-sarv to uv'c. or solicit people to buy bonds they ought to have patriotism enough to gladly and cliecrlully make every sacrihee possible tor their country. The vast majority of our people are jiatriotic but we have many slackers. Jt is not necessary to-name them just glance at the list of subscriptions and see how many who arc able to buv bonds, trying to shirk their duty by buying a $50 or 1 ( K) bond. The Portland liberty loan committee thus defines a .slacker: Our definition of a slacker Ih a person or firm who can buy bonds and does buy u grossly inudcipiato amount, obviously much loss thun ho or she should buy. The Portland committee lias adopted the 'policy of publicity for the slackers, .printing their names in the newspapers. The Med ford committee should adopt the same method, for the public is entitled to know who the unpatriotic fit ixens are. In pursuance of its efforts, the Portland committee adopted the following resolution, which exactlv fits the situation in Mcdf'ord, except that we are minus the cap italists: Whereas, from the canvass made to this dale by tho Liberty loan or ganization for subscriptions to tho fourth Liberty loan. It conclusively appears that there Is a very substantial number of men In professions and business vocations In good clrcu nistunces and who enjoy substantial Incomes, but who have not subscribed In proportion to their resources, but are permitting the mure prominent capitalists and the laboring men to assume tiie burden at hand; now, therefore, be It Unsolved: That each business and profession bo classified and that a cmntnltteo of three lie uppointod in each class, who will rate each member Ihereof; that with each rating will bo listed thoamouuL subscribed by the man Tilted; that thereupon said ruled member bo notified of his nil Ins and appear and show iai.so why he should not subscribe totho amount of Ms ruling: that if no good cause lie shown why he should not bo subscribe that his name, rallni! and aiuuunt subscribed be published In the daily press: and, to the end that no injustice may be done. Ho it further Resolved: That Investigation bo made of available government and private records that the Liberty loan committee may asccrialit the Income and resources of the persons so rated as aforcsultl. The local committee U supposed' to have the financial rating of every individual. They should let in the light so the people may know. It. has pussy-footed long enough. Results are needed. (17 til! Thirty Feet of : Danger The intestinal canal is an important part of every individual, important every inch of its thirty feet. The upper portion of it is intended for the diges tion of food and absorption of its useful portions. But the lower part is concerned with the elimina tion of waste material. It is, in other words, the great sewer of the body. The more food eaten, the greater the waste. If a sewer becomes clogged up, its contents stagnate and become more and more dangerous. x Constipation means more than failure to evacuate the bowels regularly and thoroughly. It means stagnation, increased fermentation, putrefaction and germ action. Increased amounts of irritating and poisonous substances are formed. Absorption of these into the blood follows. Self-poisoning "suits. - jek. Danger, disorder, disease, or even death follow. Pills, purgative mineral waters, castor oil, salts, etc., do not cure constipation or prevent its con sequences. They make it worse because they do not only irritate the bowels, but they "wear out" in effect and so must be taken in increasing doses, making constipation a habit. .. But the Nujol Treatment for Constipation over- comes constipation by helping Nature re-establish . easy, daily, thorough bowel evacuation as "regular . as clockwork." . - Nujol prevents stagnation and self-poisoning.
