Marshal General Crowder today an
nounced orders to the local draft
boards which w'ill permit voluntary
induction of draft registrants into
the navy and murine corps and pro
vide for drafts or men for those ser
vices If voluntary inductions do not
suffice to fill the demands.
Calls for men for the navy will. go
out before the end of this month and
marine corps contingents will be call
ed within a few weeks.
State quotas will bo allotted to fill
the marine and naval requirements.
Men responding will be counted upon
the state's quota for military needs.
Physical qualifications are slightly
higher for naval needs, and the order
directs that local boards shall select
no man for the navy who cannot use
fully the English language and who
has not a complete status as a citizen
of the United States.
