During allied victories the Germans are fed 4))' their pres3 on domestic quarrels, scandals and other notorious matter. ,'Not a word is given out regarding conditions at the front. This was especially true In the re cent offensives. Practically no space was devoted to the great battles. Scandals and domestic troubles were aired in the columns of every puper. Among matters was a notorious hospital affair. Professor Max Hen flel of Jena was being tried for the death of a woman on whom he had operated. According-to the Berlin Tagcblatt, he was frequently visited by Prince Bernhard of Llppe, who took a mor bid pleasure In seeing women operat ed on. Once when the prince called, Professor Henkel summoned a wom an for an internal operation. He was told the woman had just breakfasted and was not ready for the operation. However, he had the stomach pump applied, despite her 1 rotests, gave her an anaesthetic, and operated. She died in half an hour. He was acquitted on the ground that another physician, chief witness for the state, was as notorious a 'brute as he was and his testimony was valueless. M A FAILURE SEATTLE, Wash., An-. 22.
