There have been many signs recently of ex treme uneasiness by the (jerinan high command rexardlng the Increasing ascendancy of tho allied airmen on the western front. This has been especially evident since the American airmen have begun to appear In force and have proved themselves of the same mottle as tho French and llrit Ish fliers. It has become a common-place among British airmen that their op- pouctils will not face combat in the nlr unleES In sirengih of three or four to one, and Tlerman prisoners have told of German airmen being punl.'-hed by their flight commanders for returning to their nTrdiomes still laden -with bombs nnd animiinltlon which they had been ordered to drop over tho British lines. It Is becoming Increasingly hard to find a (lermcn airman over the allied side of the lines In the daytlmo, as is proved by tho German's own admission ' that when they do manage to bring down an allied machine It Is almost always over their own territdry.
