camp Thursday. He started from

trouble with his engine and after
working with it about three hours dis
covered that he bad burned out one
of his cylinders, and about that time

F. L. Putnam of Talent was among
the passengers on the P. & E. Thurs
day, He was on his way to one of the
logging camps near Unite Falls,

and Bob had come from Medford and
stopped here and Bob -went up home
for bis father and we bad one of
those good old fashioned visits such
as one can )inve with people of that
class. The reader will bear in mind
that Bob has .just left the hospital
and is just getting over an attack of
spinal meningitis, where be was hov
ering between life and death for sev
eral weeks, and now is home on a
furlough of MO days to recuperate in
our healthy climate while visiting his
parents. WJiile he has lost some
flesh, Li pounds in weight, still he
looks hale and hearty and can see no
serious results.
The meeting Friday night in the in
terest of the W.,S. S. mote proved to
be an abundant success. There were
75 in attendance. The meeting wns
called to order by Dr. Holt and the
object announced. Our school clerk,
W. C. Clements, acted as secretary.
After the rcports'of the different so
licitors were in the clerk announced
that the amount subscribed so far
amounted to $3,425 of Our appor
tionment. Then Dr. Holt called for

the election of Mrs. W. L. Childreth
as president and W. C. Clements as
secretary, when we adjourned feeling
a willingness to redouble our efforts
to down the Hun.

He was standing near where they

when the log that was being dragged
by the donkey engine caught against
a stump causing It to swerve side
ways and caught him hurting him

not know how badly.

A. II. Peachey, of that city, is down

passing thru here every day on their
way to Crater Lake and eastern Ore
