The beautiful grounds presented nn inspiring siyht with the groups of bright faced child ren and appreciative parents; then, too, there were the daintily appoint ed tables whero later the hostess was nssisted by the ladies of tho circle in serving cooling drinks and wafers. A vcrv attractive program of plays, 'songs, dances mid recitations was presented and Sir. llillis, who was one of the guests of the occasion, told two fascinating stories to a most appreciative group of hearers, bolii old and young. The speaker also paid a splendid tribute to the lino spirit of the Roosevelt school. The praise and understanding willi which the various numbers were pre sented by the little folks leads to a deep sense of appreciation of the privileges the school life of today of fers for the development of the child life in all its phases and Miss Fer guson has never missed an opportuni ty to develop, along with the aca demic work, an appreciation of all the liner things of life, and visitors arc always impressed with the fine spiri of tjhe school. The parents and pupils are deeply indebted to Miss . Ferguson and her able corps of as sistants," Mrs. ('anode, Miss Jeffrey, Miss Curkin, Miss Dcmmcr and .Miss iMintcn, for a most harmonious am! successful school year. t m Mrs. Walter Frozier lirown of 1'embro orchard delightfully enter tained the Mission Study club of the M. E. church Saturday afternoon. The afternooon was spent in conver sation and music. The special fea tures were vocal solos by Mrs. Maml Anderson, readings by Miss Catherine Dunham and Mrs. Charles Manning. A circle of prayers were offered in behalf of our boys who are at the front. Miss Anne Hamilton, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. William It. Hamilton, left Monday evening for New Y'ork City, from where she expects to soon sail for France. Miss Hamilton will go as stenographer for a Red Cross unit. The Ladies' Bible class of the Presbyterian church will meet on Monday with Mrs. W. W. Cherry on Capilol Hill, This will be the month ly business meeting and n full a! tendance is urged. A very enjoyable card parly was given Thursday evening by St. Anne Altar society of the Catholic linrcli in the Parish hall. Mrs. Steel and Miss Kelichor were hostesses. Mrs. fi. W. Sinter of Spokane. Wash., who has been visiting her daughter, Mrs. Riley I', llenson, for the past several mouths, has re turned to her home. Wednesday evening the perform ers in the play, "The New Minister," were invited to a picnic on Airs. Proebsting's beautiful lawn. Well laden baskets with delicious lloov erized eatables were brought and spread upon (ablcclolbs lor the per formers and their families. While all were seated upon the lawn so grace fully it was impossible for the judges to decide which one should receive n prize for posing, hut Dr. Rollins, Mrs. Perl and Mr. Valentine were fa vorites. After cnjoyinV the luncheon a number of the singers went -to the music room and sang some of the "New Minister'1 songs with Miss Edith Brooks at the piano. Miss romau, who has been away studying music, favored the company with a very fine instrumental selection. About (iO friends enjoyed u very joyous evening together. The (,'. V..
