Forty-six of jibland's stalwart sons and tulr dinghies graduated from the high (chool last Friday night, the exor (jsM being hold In the Chautauqua tidltorlum. The event was the 27th innual one In the history of the In jtltutlon, and It was carried out un er tho most happy auspices, devoid ot undue osieuiauon aim uispiuy. The absence of rare flowers In pro- (UBlon due to the late season, did not Imply that the class of '18 were unremenibered as to floral gifts, in asmuch as the more humble buds and tlossonis were requisitioned as sub stltutes for the traditional rose and carnation of commencement day as customarily observed. Both the Invocation and the bene diction on the formal program were delivered by Rev. O. S. Brett. Mu jftal accompaniments included two selections by the orchestra. The graduates joined in the class song, "Soldiers' Chorus," also in "Your Flag and My Flag," as a vocal fi nale, both air and words being oppor tune under present mifltary condi tions. Alta Scott gave the class prophecy, mingling the practical, hu morous and a shade of the sombre in the future outlook as viewed from a foretelling perspective. The address fwas by Rev. C. A. Edwards, pastor of the local Methodist church, whose remarks incorporated 'historical, po etic and patriotic sentiments in 'be balf of the highest ideals, his argu ment Implying that persistent indus try wast he inspiring 'basis of en deavor and success. Dr. G. V.
