John A. Perl, on complaint entered
by City Water Suerintendent Arn

thru an open hose. His hearing was
set for 10 n. m. Saturday. Mr. Perl
is indiimunt over his arrest nnd de
clares he will po to jail before he

intr Hie charge. Perl says he was ir
rigating with a gunny sack over the
end of the hose. Arnspiger says this
is true, but that Perl had no nozzle
attached tn the hose.

A new fire which started yester
day in the Cougar creek section aloni:
the liijr Applegate river above the
mouth of Steamboat creek by last
night had burned over 50 acres. Five
men were rushed to the scene of the
fire last evening.
A bad fire exists nt the head of
Anderson creek, about 8 miles north
west of Talent. This fire, the smoke
of which was plainly diseernable
from the streets of the city yesterday
was under control, but in the after
noon jumped the fire lines. Thirty
men were at work on the fire all last
night, and it was thot it would be
under control by this afternoon. This
fire up to last night' had burned over
200 acres.

Hilt lodging company sent its entire

help conrpier the fire, which up to

about three miles distant from this
fire, a spark from a donkey en"rine
set fire yesterday moraine to some
cut lumber and loirs. The fire spread
to the company's slashings, and its
entire force of employes foucht the
fire all day before getting control
of it.
