Alfred Lewis is reported as not much improved in health and his mnny friends are very solicitous of his condition. "Bob" Cook made a short trip into California the first of the week. Cherry picking in the orchards near Gold Hill is in full blast. Some of the young men who have finished thinning in the orchards here left the first of the week for Jlill (.:rest-nnd Westerluml orchards, cast of Medford. . Ned Potter o Turtle Rock ranch. upper Sams valley, is in Gold Hill devoting bis time to his friend, Alf Lewis. George Lance and wife of Foot: creek were shopping in Gold Hill Mon day. Mr. and Mrs. Lucas of liengle were visiting in Medford Sunday. Five hundred head of sheep arc in pnsturo nt the Grace ranch. The ranchers are all busy getting in their hay crops and help is hard to get in this section of the valley. The sheepmen ore dipping their sheep and getting ready to lake iheni to the summer range. A nretty wedding took place on July 4 at the borne of Mrs. Ida Ma Jerle when her younger daughter, Lelah. was united in marriage to Mr James Milton, youngest son of Mr and Mrs. Joel Milton, Rev. McWII Hams officiating at the ceremony which' was held at high noon. The youthful bride looked charming in her wedding dress of white satin mcs saline and Georgette crepe. Miss S ROGUE RIVER Beck was bridesmaid and a large number of relative and friends wit nessed the nuptials.. After which a community wedding dinner was held In the grove, many good wishes being expressed for the happiness of the young couple. Mt Claud Durkhart and Miss Er cel Carroll, daughter of Mr. and' Mrs. J. B. Helfrlch were married at Yreka on, July 3.. Most of our citizens who possess automobiles attended the celebration at Ashland on July 4 and 5. They re ported a good time and were loud In their praise of the beauty of Llthla park just now. Several are planning to attend Chautauqua at Ashland from July 11 20th. It is expected that several of our enlisted young men will leave soon for training camp which will bring the stern reality of war very near to us. The aged centenarian of Foots Creek, Grandma Whitney, Is seriously ill. Mrs. G. Martin entertained about ladles at her home on July 6 In honor of Miss Martha Brown, a guest at the James Martin home. The after- noon was spent visiting on the cool porch and listening to songs by the younger ladles.. The hostoss served dainty Ice cream and cake.
