stipulating that grass must not be

who was accidentally thrown from
tho running board of an 'auto while
assisting In tho pursuit of John Rngs-

C. Oxman, principal witness against
Thomas J. Moouey in the hitter's trial
for murder growing out of a bomb
explosion hero,. was arraigned In the
superior court today on a felony
charge of attempting subornation of
perjury in connection with Mooney'a
trial. After tho court had over-ruled
a motion to dismiss tho case, Oxman's
attorney, Samuel M. Shortrldgo, filed
a demurrer to the Information filed
against Oxman by District Attorney
Charles M. Flckert. The case was
continued until next Monday morning
for decision.
Oxman is accused of trying to In
duce F. E. Kigali of Grayvllle, Ills.,
to give false testimony against Moou
ey, who Is under sentence of death
for one of the bomb murders.

SALEM, Ore., July 7. Attorneys
representing the nino principal rail
roads operating in Oregon today ad
vised the Public Service commission
they had decided to cancel their peti
tions for permission to increaso intra
state freight rates fifteen percent, as
a result of tho Interstate commerce
commission's recent suspension of the
proposed similar Increase turnout tho
nation.
Hearings on tho petitions planned
for next week by the commission,
probably will not he held, as the four
