Medford Is to have a new cold stor
age plant for green fruits , to be
erected at a cost of JCO.OOO ut Ever
green and Twelfth streets and the
railroad right of way. Construction
work will be bgun In a few days as
plans have already been prepared for
the building.
Reginald II. Parsons will erect the
cold storafge plant, which will be
modern in every particular. Tho build
ing xvill be leased by the Stewart
Fruit company, it Is expected that
the plant will be ready for use in time
to handle the fall crop.
As a part of tho site of the struc
ture and for right of way purposes the
announcement has just been made
that Mr, Parsons has purchased thru
Earl Tumy three parcels of land at a
cost of $0000.
The city council at Its meeting last
Monday night, at request of Attorney
Lincoln McCormack, granted permis
sion for the extension of the Southern
Pacific sidetrack past the property.

ing that the United Slates was going
to fight until the world was made safe
for democracy, Elihu Root, head of
the American mission made his first
public appearance hero today. Mr.
Root spoke to a largo and enthusias
tic Russian audience gathered under
the auspices of the Russian-American
committee for Industrial and econom
ic, rapprochement, recently organized.
Several speeches voicing the appreci
ation of the coming of the American
mission were made by members of the
