RINGS FOR AIRSHIPS
The Medford boys with the aviation
corps at San Diego may have been the
means of giving Uncle Sam a tip that
will insure his supremacy in the air
by suggesting that they try the Med-
tord made -Plex rings in their avia
tion motors.
They have been eiven a thornneh
test by the chief mechanic In charge
of the machines at the aviation school
at San Diego and he has requested
that the war department give these
rings a thorough test at all their sta
tions, claiming that the Increased
compression enables the airplanes to
climb faster and work better at high
elevations.
The Bailey Aeroplane comnanv of
Los Angeles hearing of the success of
the local rings at the government sta
tion has ordered rings for an airplane
they expect to enter in the coast to
coast race in September.
The Medford Red Cross chapter is
richer by between $300 and 1400
through last night's benefit given for
the chapter by the Medford lodge of
Elks. The exact sum realized will not
be known for a day or two yet when
all tickets that were In hands of in
dividuals for sale are accounted for.
The benefit was a brilliant success
in every way. Fully 300 persons made
merry in the Elks' club house, includ
ing visitors from all parts of the val
ley. All evening long automobiles
were parked for blocks on the streets
about the club house. All classes of
society were well represented.
Naturally tbe largest oortion nt the
assemblage crowded into the big ball
room, where all evening up until mid
night two hundred couples enioved
the dancing, music for which was fur
nished by Hazelrlg's orchestra.
A pleasing feature of the occasion
was the luncheon which was served
on the serve-yourself plan. The eata
bles and refreshments were nrovidprf
for by (he Elks' ladies with Mrs. R. J
Conroy In charge. About J78 was
realized from his source. The lunches
which were wrapped in individual
pacKages. each containlnr sandwich
es, cake, pickles, etc., were sold at 23c
eacn. and included coffee and ice
cream. The diners, after obtaining
their lunches and drinkables then
seated themselves at loner hannuet
tables spread in the basement.

Says
No man Is well dressed without a tie pin. Why wear a watch that
was in style 20 years ago just because it runs: You would not

Why wear old jewelry?
The latest styles in Jewelry is just as essential to the well
