Jerry Lewis, one of our town boys went to Ililt, California, to go to work in a sawmill. Charles S. Painter anil George H. Wumsley, our deputy assessor, went to Jacksonville Saturday on business of an official nature, Mrs. W. W. Taylor and her daugh ter Mrs. Wm. Ilolman, were shopping Saturday afternoon in Eagle Point. Win. Perry, one of our leading cit izens and u member of the school board made a business call in Butte Fnlls Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Mathews, who own and operate the old John Black farm on the free ferry road, were trading here Saturday. Mrs. Mamie ("lark who is teaching school in the Central S. II. was a passenger on the E. P.-Pcrsist stage Saturday. J. M. Wilfley owner of an orchard northeast of E. P. came in Monday on the P. & E. and tho first thing he did was to give me his sub. to the daily M';iil Tribune. John IT. Stewart, of Los Angeles, son ot I. M. Stewart also cumo in Monday on tho P. & E. Mrs. F. L. Chitwood of Grants Pass, a daughter of Mr. nnd Mrs, James Culbertson of Lake creek nlso came in on tho P. & E. Monday nnd so did Airs. A. J. McDonald of Trail and Mrs. II. II. Fox nnd her mother-in-law, Mrs. M. A. Fox of Lake creek, also Tim Daley and Stanford Hous ton of Trail, Mrs. McDonald, Messrs. Daley and Houston taking the E. P. Persist stage and the other three Indies to the E. P.rL. C. stage for Lake creek. There were seventeen come out on the P. & E. jitney. Buss Moore nnd his two daughters passed thru our town Monday on their -way to Central Point, being called there on account of the death of his mother-in-law Mrs. N. J. Pan key, one of the pioneers of Jnckson eounty as she has lived in Sams val ley nnd Central Point for over fifty years. A. J. Aderson the agent of the Standard Oil company, Medford, came out Tuesday to interview the users of his goods as to the trade this season. There is quite a number of peoplo who havo nutos and gasoline engines who buy gnsolino by the bar rel nnd consequently get it cheaper than nt retail. Mr. Anderson was a' guest nt the Sunnyside Tuesday for dinner. Mr Berrian the superintendent of tho B. F. fish hatchery, and Mrs. Loo Steers of Rogue River and Mr. Wheeler of B. F. were passangers on tho north bound tram, Mrs. Steers being on her way to tho Minter bros. ranches to visit them as they arc her uncle. There was a lot of hay on the train Tuesday for the stockmen of Derby, nnd almost a carload of rolled bar lev for different parties around here. There was n small lot of lumber come out on the train for Hoy Bail ey. E. A. Bass also cnino out on the same train and brought out n lot of fruit trees lo replant his orchard. There was n secial meeting of the Parent -Teachers society Monday night at the school house to arrange a program for the track meet here May 3 next. The committee report that they havo raised near n hundred dollars to be invested ill prizes, etc. and the Ashland high school has promised substantial aid, the Ashland band has agreed to donate their ser vices nnd from nil appearances we are going to havo one of the times of our lives at that time. It is ex peeled that there will be twenty dif ferent schools represented. In addi tion to the silver cup that is to be contested for the committee have de cided to offer n second and third prize for the second nnd third result. George Stewell brought in his reg ular two enses of eggs nnd can of cream Tuesday. Robert Dawson of Trail passed thru here Tuesday with a small load of hay. He spent the night with his un cle and aunt, Mr. nnd Mrs. W. G. Knighton. A. V. Ciiminings, superintendent of the Alivista orchard, luul a, little mash up on the street Tuesday p. m.
