spectlon of the condition of the fish
ladders at the Golden Drift dam. Mr.
Shoemaker stated tiiat a number of
Improvements would be made in the
ladders and an effort would be put
forth to remove any cause for com
plaint that the people ot the upper
river had In that regard. During the
visit of the chief warden, hundreds
of steelheads were going through the
Indder on the south side of the river,
not being held back by the dam. One
party who watched tho ladder count
ed 100 steelheads going through In
