Mesdames Hough and Leslie have leased "Laurolhurst" and will remove to it from their home on the Black well Hill at once, bringing with them their mother, Grandma Thompson who Is nn Invalid. Mrs. Lloyd Rippey came down Fri day from Portland und remained over till Saturday when she proceed ed to her now home at Klamath Falls where Mr. Rippey Is stationed. Mrs. J. iV. Clark 'spent Saturday at Rogue River at the home of her mother. Miss Vera Davidson made a bus! ness trip to Medford Saturday. J. E. Perry and son. John, of Rid dle, Ore., arrived Thursday for a vis it at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wilkinson. Miss Maude Miller, teacher at the Galls creek school, was compelled on account of the heavy snow in that district to discontinue school tempo rarity and came in Monday to take the train for her home In Medford to spend a few days there. Mr. and Mrs. J. Herron trans acted business in Medford Monday. Mrs. Ellen Watters died Wednes day night at the home of her daugh ter, Mrs. J. 13. Morelock. Grandma Watters, who was past S3 years old, had been In poor health since last tall. The body was taken to Browns ville, her former home, Friday morn ing, Mrs. .Morelock and grand daughter, Ooldlc Woods, acompany ing. Guy Harvey and F. W. Fountain, who havo spent the past year with their daughter In Tacoma, Wash., returned Monday morning to take up their res idence in tills city again and will at once occupy their cottage on Front street which had been occupied by J. O. Thompson and wlfo, but who re cently removed to Montague, Cal. The entire community will welcome Mr. and Mrs. Fountain most heartily for they were Indeed missed during their absence frpin our city. ;Mrs. J. F. Dietrich and daughter, Nellie, left Wednesday evening for Douglas, Arizona, where Mr. Dietrich has been engaged the past few months. It is with regret that wo see some of the best of Gold Hill seek other fields and we hope it may not be for long. Mr. and Mrs. L. O. Jennings, foreman of the Sterling mine, is visiting in Jackson vllle while the cold snap makes work impossible there. Mrs. Fred Fiek entertained the Fortnightly Bridge club last Wednes day evening.
