TO HANG HERSELF
The city of Medford is richer by
ten dollars, that amount representing
a bond furubhed by John Deadmond
for his wife and which was forfeited
when .Mrs. Headmond failed to ap
pear in police court jes-terday after
noon, to answer u charge of disturb
ing the peace, when she attempt d
to hang herself Sunday night from
the back stairway of the Seat'le
rooming hoio:e of which she is land
lady. The attempted suicide came
as a result of a family quarrel.
When officer Crawford was sum
moned he found Deadmoud holding
his wife, who had a rope about her
neck. Crawford and Deadmoud at
tempted to ij u let the woman by talk
ing. She broke away from them sud
denly, ran to the back porch, threw
the rope over a projecting timber und
jumped.
Crawford also swung out on the
rope, it broke and both landed in a
heap on the ground. .
The woman way, taken into cus
