CAMPAIGN CLOSED BY PINAL RALLY AIM NATTER BULLION ON To listen to the final round of re-1 fJUUIieilll niKumuui iu llll' 1 diui'diH", the largest crowd of the caiimaiKU In Jackson county assembled Mon- j Six nnd one-half tons of silver bul nlgbt at the Natatorluiu. The j 'ion from the mint at Sun Francisco day j principal speaker of the evening was 11. Hunley, who returned to I lled'ori1 for n"r fi,lal "I"'''' ',fler stumping the state for Hughes. Mrs. Hert Anderson, who accompanied her on the tour around tho state, was present, but not to sing, for as Col. Washburn, who presided, she "lost her voice on the Columbia river." Colonel Washburn delivered the first speech of the evening, berating President Wilson's foreign policy In strongest terms. Of the legislation passed by the present administration he said much was good Inasmuch as i the labor of Its preparation had been performed by the republican party. I He stamped, he ranted and he raved, after the manner of the I. W. W. soap box orators, as be heaped abuse and vililficatlon upon Jlie presi dent of the t'nited States. .Mrs. Ilanley was given an enthusi astic reception when she stepped to the front of the platform. She too. treated the foreign and legislative ac complishments of Ihe Wilson adminis tration to a handling at the bands of what she described as "the best mud slinger in Jackson county." She dwelt on the sule of her two cute lit tle, sweet little, curly tailed pigs, sacrificed for a Hughes holiday, stat ing that previous lo the sale, on ac count of the Wilson administration. tlshchad only two cents In her pocket book, the hard limes having forced her husband to chnse the hump backed salmon In Alaska, while she chased the humped-backed hogs In Oregon. The narrow chested, squeaky voiced demoernts, she declared, were for Wilson, but tho broad shouldered, manly men were for Hughes. Mrs. Ilanley has been styled, in nu merous slobbery, slushy articles In the Portland Orcgonlan, as the "Hilly Sunday of politics." To the pictures que slang of Hilly Sunday, she adds tho frenzied gestures of Mary Antin. Her speech would be a top liner In vaudeville, with irresponsible jokes mimicries, dramatics, and contor tions, n series of quips, smart ridl- ule, and cheap nbuso with no attempt at logical argument. Colonel Washburn closed the meet- ilng Willi an appeal to support the Jackson County republican candi dates. Two numbers by the Medford qunr tette were features of the meeting.
