"first aid'' class, which has just been
formed, will meet on the flame day in
the same place at 11 o'clock, when Dr.
Conroy will lecture to those wishing
to take the course. These meetings
are held in tint same place, merely as
a matter of convenience, and those
interested iu the Ked Cross work need
not take the lectures unless they
wish to.

Medford Friday evening wn- a pleas

including seniors, juniors, alumni,

GRANT LIFE CONVICT
PLEA FOR INDEBTEDNESS

Morrow ruleo iu circuit court today
that civil death, which Is the status
of a man serving a life sonicate In a
state prison, does not prevent the
convicted from Instigating the aid ot
the state courts to enforce a Judg
ment. For that reason he retimed to
order the release ot James L. Level,
who Is being held In the Multnomah
county Jail ror debt.
A Judgment tor $1031 was obtain,
oil against James L. Level by a cousin
John M. Level, now serving a lire
sontance In San Qunntlu penitentiary
Tor murder. Tho Judgment decree
states there wa fraud lu'the decision
and this week attorneys representing
the convict caused au execution to be
issued against the body of James L.
Level who was arrested.
The effect of tho decision is to
keep James L. Level In Jail pending
payment of (he Judgment.
