It is time that some good-sized, courageous, justice-loving
audience hissed these ex-presidents off the stage when
they make such attacks. Tai't, as president, gave us a
Mexican policy that got nowhere, settled nothing and he
handed our relation with Mexico over to Woodrow Wilson
in the rankest sort of condition. He should have kept
his mouth tightly shut about Mexico from the date that he
was turned out pf office, by a country unanimous, save as
to LTtah and Vermont. As presidentPoosevelt's most im
portant action toward foreign nations was bis "taking" of

only logical to conclude that Taft's Mexican policy would

"take" Mexico, (lermany. Austria and Turkey.
