It was one ot tho exchange's regular shipment transactions, and In tho handling of this car tho meth ods regularly employed by the or ganlzatlon wcro followed to tho let' ter. In his report on this particular car (Jeorgo W. Aycr, tho Washing ton agent ot tho exchange, In part says: "Wo found tho fruit In generally good condition, although two top tiers showed considerable ripo fruit. Tho car received twelve relclngs and from tho records mado from read ings of tho electric thermometer wo found that tho temperature remain ed practically oven from tho point of shipment to Washington. In all 32.S20 pounds ot Ico wero used on this consignment. "Tho Itoguo lllver Fruit & Prod uco association certainly has the right Idea in regard to packing and loading cars. This car of pears, which left Mcd ford August 21 reached Washington Hcptcrober 2, with practically its en tire contents In the best ot condi tion.
