V. E. Carlock ot Merlin died
Monday and was taken to Jackson
ville for burial, interment taking
place Tuesday. His brother, F. M.
Carlock, of Uakerstield, Cal., and
his wife were with him when death
came. Mr. Carlock was about 70
years of age and had been a resi
dent of Southern Oregon about 3S
years.

three classic numbers which were
well rendered. The director, William
II. Sautclmauu, as a director of a
military band, is a good one, but his
interpretation of Wagner is wide "f
the mark. He has no idea of the del
icate shading required in Wagnerian
music; neither has Soua for that
matter. There is a wide difference hi
