A committee waB appointed to select and purchase a new carpet for tho church, repairs aro now being mado and when completed, tho build ing will ,bo inoro comfortable In every way, besides will seat 150 pooplel moro than before. In November, a lecture will be given by Itov. Charles M, Sheldon, author ot "In His Steps." On ae-j count of of this fact and tho world wldo popularity ot his works, partic ularly "In His Steps" It Is hoped there will bo a largo audience of members and friends to hear this great man. Although a largo number of tho Indies liavo been absent on camping trips and vacations, a fair amount ot Ladies Aid work has been accom plished, ono circle report 120 calls mado during ono month, forty-two being mado by ono lady. Jnpnnc5o lanterns-, otted plants and early autumn flowers were decorative accessories to the throng of white trousered club members and their daintily gowned guots. The opening, probably marks the begin ning of a series of similar parties to folow throughout Iho coming season. The preM'ut officers of the club are: president, Mr. H. II. Parsens: Secretary, Mr. Chandler Egan, trcas urer, Mr. A. S. Kosenbnum. Tho homo of Mr, nnd Mrs. Isaac llrlttsau, of Ashland was tho sccno ot a pretiy wedding Wednesday, when at o'clock on that day their son, V. R. llrlttsan, nnd Miss Nellie Raker were united in marriage. Tho wedding march, to which tho young couple entered tho room, was played by Mrs. Howell Isaac. The ring scrvlco was used, Kev. Howell Isaac officiating. Tho brldo was dressed In white voilo over palo ping nnd car ried bouquet of white roses. Hoses, sweet peas nnd evergreen were pro fusely used In tho decorations. A dainty luncheon, to which all did ample Justice, was served after tho ceremony, following tho hearty congratulations which wcro show ered upon tho young people. The brido came to Ashland last September from Chicago, in company with Mrs. Issac nnd children, hop ing to regain her health. Her sweet voice, especially adapted to gospel music, has won her many friends dur ing her residence in this city. Tho groom is a merchant of llcd ford nnd Is n young man of excellent character. Tho many friends of tho young couple consider them excep tionally well mated. Mr. and Mrs. Brittsan. left for a few weeks stay at Crater Iake and other points. TIjls was present to tho guest of honor, also a hnndsomo vase, by tho hostesses, many practical "household helps," gifts from those present. Af ter tho "showor" bridge was played and refreshments served. The guests fncluded:' Misses Eng lish, Hutchison, Kentuor, Ida Loo Kentner, l'rlnglo, vnre. Rlddell. Blodgett, Dahl, Etnerick. Mr. and Mrs. Marshall entertained tho Herring, Tracy and McClatchle families with a melon party at their home "Five Pines" near Central Point. Mr. Marshall has 20 acres of tho largest and most delicious musk nnd watermelons from which ho will have 100 largo wagon loads for tho mar ket, and raised without irrigation.
