in grading work and it i not n numb
guess with me. I snw the work done
and was told of its- cost and I will
admit that it sometimes surprised me
at first, but then when I snw things
ns they were I understood better.

time since the 'camp was established.

mined nearly all of the time.

much when they arc idle as when they
nre at work. If I have things right, it

they work or not, and about $1,000
per month if they work all the time,
so I feel that they will make a great
showing for the money invested In
good weather. The above estimate
is not exactly correct, bnt'is n rough
estimate when the camp consists of
35 men, an overseer drawing $100
per mouth, and two teams which I
understand are paid $4 per dny. The
boys get their board and 2." cents per
day. So the only additional cost the
working dny has over the idle day is
the 25 cents per man.
"Besides all this, Jackson county
should bo one of the foremost coun
ties in lending a helping hand to Gov
ernor West in this noble venture,
which we hope will soon find encour
agement in every state in the union.
