Tho boxing fann of tho city ot Mod ford, wherovor disposed, today tiro nuking one questien: Why did J, I llltltson, chief of tho Medford police force, stop through the rones In tho third round ot what promised to ho tho best boxing card over seen In tho city of Modfonl, and stop tho Anderaon-McFarland go? They would also llko to know when thu duties of bill collector were added to tho chief of police's duties, for at tho last two exhibitions ho has used 1Ib office to grab the box re ceipts for various creditors. Thero remained 25 seconds ot the round to go and McFnrland would probably havo como up in the fourth strong nnd willing. Dot when tho go first becanio really Interesting it was stopped. Thereupon tho fans jeered. Owing to police Interference Kef ereo Edwards called all bets off. Tho mill started off from tho first tap of the gong and both Inds showed that they wero out to win. There were no fancy capers or stalling, but each blow landed had a sting in it. During the first round both men slipped several times on the canvas, but a little rosin later fixed this. The second round was fast, both men working hard. The third round had hardly started when tho fireworks wero opened. It wa entirely uncalled for and proved a great disappointment to the fans. Doth of tho boxers were surprised at tho interference. While It is gen. orally conceded that Anderson would havo won the battle had It lasted longer, ho had not won it when it waa stopped. He is clever and has a splendid wallop. Some day he wih be among tho best of them. The first bout between Collins and Phillips furnished a great deal of amusement, especially tho first round.
