Tlite changes have been accomplished by rresident Tun through n series of proclamations signed nt different times in June, but all becoming ef fective July 1. The county court took the matter under advise ment until such time ns they could look into the title to the road which dates back to territorial days. A monster petition was recently pr-sented to the court urging tho toll road to be inkeu over bj the county. Tho forest Is In better con dition this year to capo with flames than ever before. A trail seven miles In length from lumaha to the middle fork of Hogue river has been constructed. Lodge Pole and Iilack Bear are connected by a trail as is Clover Creek and Desolution Swamp. Six miles of trail has been constructed In the Apple gate district. A force of men will start next week in opening tho old John Day road from Brown's Cabin to IDamond Lake a distance ot twenty-three miles.
